Abstract

Since OpenAI launched ChatGPT in November 2022, it immediately grabbed everyone’s attention. ChatGPT is built on GPT which stands for Generative Pre-trained Transformer. This talk will explain what is GPT with the basics first so participants can have better understanding and know what limitations and why ChatGPT has. I will also share some experiences we have seen on the use of GPT/ChatGPT and the potentials of using GPT/ChatGPT in education.

Abstract

The ongoing interest in ChatGPT and its capability to improve work, tasks and other activities which could be solved with the help of Generative AI are making this topic quite popular. According to recent statistics, around half of students use it during their study process for homework, essays and for at-home tests. In this talk I will present a few approaches to quantify the intention to use and actual use of this tool in the study process. Research was conducted in multiple countries including Poland, Egypt, Portugal, Mexico, and Turkey. I have also used two common moderating variables as gender and study level of the student.
